Opportunity Calls for Student Nurses.

Unsure about your path into nursing? You're in the right place.

Where will nursing take you?

Nursing school is just the beginning of a career that can take you on many different paths.  As as nurse, you'll gain transferable skills that are highly sought after.

This means you'll always have options to explore new opportunities and passions no matter which stage of career you're at.

Opportunities exist in nursing even when you’re still in school.

Often hospitals have job opportunities waiting for clinical learners who are completing their nursing healthcare studies.

For example, at The Ottawa Hospital we have an Extern Program. Externs are clinical learners who are employed as unregulated care providers to work under the supervision of regulated care providers. Externs have designated skills that they can perform, much like an orderly or personal support worker and it can be a great way to gain practical experience and mentorship before you graduate.

The New Graduate Guarantee Program.

One of the best opportunities available after graduation is The New Graduate Guarantee Program.

It’s open to both Canadian educated and internationally educated nurses within 12 months of registering with the College of Nurses of Ontario and can help you transition into full-time employment right away. To speak directly to The Ottawa Hospital’s NGG program expert please email Lori Delaney.
